His grandfather, the well-known author Hans Steffen, was enthusiastic when his father began in 1953 to implement the anthroposophical ideas of the Demeter Association, which had been established in the late Twenties. A fully biological approach to agriculture that also took the forces of the phases of the moon and the tides into consideration was a curiosity at that time. Together with his 80-plus-year-old father, Tisu Steffen cultivates the land and operates a dairy at the highest level of biological agriculture without the use of any fertilizers and with a motivation that fills each individual picture with emotion.

Tisu Steffen and his father fill their profession with life using all their senses. Their joy in their work and love of nature are the daily motivation for achieving the most valuable goal of fully biological farming. Their enthusiasm for working and their joy about the results have proverbially been written into the faces of the two bio-farmers.

Bio-dynamic agriculture means taking significant responsibility for nature. The comprehensive philosophy includes the proper and, in the best sense of the word, social keeping of the animals along with the rotation of the crops appropriate to the region on the basis of completely forgoing the use of fertilizers and pesticides. All living entities, people and animals, at the Steffen family farm radiate great satisfaction in their existence: farming in its most beautiful form.
